The Voter ID card, also known as the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), is a photo ID card issued by the Election Commission of India. It serves two main purposes: enabling citizens to cast their vote and acting as proof of identification. Indian citizens who are 18 years or older can apply for this card. The Voter ID card was first introduced in 1993 under Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan's leadership. It can also be used for general identification purposes, such as applying for a SIM card, a passport, or even traveling to Nepal and Bhutan.
